North pole may be Ice-free by 2013!

The melt down in hte Actic is accelerating and as a result the North pole may soon be Ice-free by 2013 instead of earlier prediction of 60 years' time. Their apprehensions are based on the computer studies on satellite images that revealed the ice north pole melt at unprecendented rate last week.

The dis-appearence have exceeded the record loss of more than a million square km in 2007 as global warming tightens its grip.

The crucial point is that the ice is not building up enough during winter to restore cover and when we combine the current estimates of ice thickness with the extent of ice cap, we get the clear indication that arctic is going to be ice-free in summer in five years.
