ABCDs of Global Warming ?

The issues of climate changes is the most debated topic on the earth. Its a universally accepted statement. Whole of the seasons were shifted. Climatic conditions are unpredictable. Unseasonal rains are being experienced.Globe is getting heated. Glaciers are melting down. Sea levels are rising. Fertile lands are becoming infertile and diseases are speading......... Life is ending soon.... Can you imagine it ? Some action to be taken atleast now to save our next generation.

Who , do you think is the culprit of current situations? .......It is we all humans , aren't we ? It is our own activities which resulting the current situation.

Now comes the Questions in everybody's mind

1. What is that we have done?
2. Whats all happening to the environment?
3. How environmental changes related to Climate changes?
4. Cant we do anything about it ?

To answer the above Questions, we need to understand the cause from the root level which helps us appreciate the real problem and whole heartedly work on it.
Basically in nature there some set of gases called " Green House Gases " for instance Water vapour , Carbon Dioxide and some trace gases. Ironically , the presence of these gases in earth's atmosphere has been a boon for whole life on earth. Yes , really these gases were helping to regulate the temperature on Earth for ages.These green house gases , absord the reflected solar heat radiations from the earth surface and increases the average temperature of the earth. This process is called as "Green House Effect".

Intresting this is without this green house effect, the Earth's average temperature would have been - 18 degree celcius instead of its 14 degree celcius. It is one of the earth's natural process without which the inhabitance on Earth possible.

So , What's the problem now ?
The human activities for last century is so against nature that it is enhancing the so called " Boon " which is leading to effects discussed in the start of this page. Carbon dioxide concentration before the industrial revolution is 280 parts per million per volume ( PPMv) but currently its crossing 370 PPMv. If this rate continues , by the end of the 20th century the Carbon dioxide concentration would be of 490 to 1260 PPMv says IPCC special report. ( 75 % - 350% of current value ) which will still worsen the situation and might the life on earth too.

Is our earth really warming ?

Yes ....... there is an increase of 0.6 degree C since late 19th century. Last 25 years has seen an increase of 0.2 to 0.3 degree C. ( Graph between Temperature rise and the time in years can be seen here www.ncdc.noaa.gov). Moreover the warming is not uniform all over. Intresting thing is some places are getting warmer while some other getting colder too.... ???

Conclusions & Reasons for Global Warming

  1. Thermal Power Generation
    • Usage of coal reducing the fossil resources. Burning of coal increasing the pollution.
    • Solution might be using Renewable energy sources for power generation. Example: Wind and Solar power.
  2. Automotive Applications
    • Use of Automobiles has the major share.
    • Tail end emissions increase the green house gases.

Global Warming is already here now and its time to act upon it. Every individual needed to participate regardless of nationality , community , culture. Its the threat for all.
